Monday 30th March

Dear Parents and Carers,

Nice chatting with many of you today to find out how our students are handling this situation. So good to see so many settling into their new routines of Learning from home. We sincerely thank you and absolutely appreciate your efforts in ensuring that learning is still taking place. Eight school days to go.... Let's make them count!

Just a reminder that we ask that throughout the week

  • you visit each of the online sites equally.
  • Your child is reading daily (no books? Please visit the Reading Eggs Library- visible directly after login, between Reading Eggs and Reading Eggspress).
  • Your child is physically active daily.

Please see the attachment above to explain how your child can access the DET portal (department of ed portal). They just need to log-in in their usual way.

If you have trouble opening the above attachment, please let us know and we will send it in another format. Trouble understanding? Chat with us.

When they are in their portal they will be able to access G-Suite wherein sits "Google Classroom". Students click on the class that they belong to. They can leave comments in the "Stream". They then click on "Classwork" to access their required learning activity.

Both classes have set activities for their particular grades. Please note the due dates for these activities.

Please bear with us as...This is new to us as well as new to our students. There will probably be glitches and mistakes here and there.

Feedback is helpful but please be kind and gentle with us as we explore these new systems and approaches to learning.

We are also sending home another way of recording student learning at home. We will be using SeeSaw for you to capture and later share your learning with us eg You may involve the children in baking... share this photo on Seesaw (visible to only you and us (teachers) not the rest of the school or wider community). The children can then comment on this experience, to be shared when back at school. SeeSaw is not new to our children. It is the same SeeSaw that they use in class (although my K/1/2 class may not know about it as I usually enter their photos). For access to SeeSaw see the other attachment above.

The codes for See Saw will be sent home in individual emails tomorrow when the lovely Lyndon Moss is with us.
