The Kitchen Garden

Children working in the Garden.           Children use the produce from the garden in a Kitchen Lesson.

Our Kitchen Garden Program is an important component of the curriculum here at Middle Dural, providing an interesting and dynamic approach to the teaching of Mathematics, Literacy, Science and PDHPE. Children learn to work co-operatively, while enjoying the many varied activities planned in and around this garden.

Our first garden was established in 2007 but due to problems with the garden and its location interest started to fall in 2008. In 2009 new raised garden beds were provided by the P&C and the school applied for a Seeding Grant.

The Kitchen Garden Program was introduced and has been growing ever since.

During 2010 Staff attended the LIVE LIFE WELL TRAINING PROGRAM and as a result of this assistance the Kitchen Garden Program has been and continues to be expanded.
