Friday 27th March

Dear Parents/ Carers,

We thank you all for your support over this past week and trust that you are all keeping well and managing the learning from home. Yes... we do really miss our usual classes... our beautiful students. Please pass on our best wishes to each of them.

We really appreciate your involvement in assisting students with their home learning: juggling computer use, timetabling activities, ensuring not too much online time but enough to cover the work provided.

We made available 3 online learning platforms (Reading Eggs, Matific and Study Ladder) and would hope that over the three weeks (now 2) before the holidays that EACH of these will have been visited equally. These sites are monitored by teachers daily. All progress is noted, demonstrating evidence of learning which is important for recording attendance. (See note below).

We are currently trialling "Google Classroom" for activities and assignments. This will also provide a forum for students to communicate directly with us. Instructions on accessing this will be sent home later. Please inform us if you are having any problems accessing this learning.

The work set has been selected to revisit and drill aspects of maths: developing speed, accuracy and fluency in what may seem simple tasks. Reading eggs also provides access to a large library of books. This Library can be accessed after logging on... visible between Reading Eggs and Reading Express. Children can slide the age buttons to provide an age range finding appropriate material of interest. Study Ladder tasks have a mix of Literacy and Numeracy as well as some other areas once set tasks have been completed.

** Attendance: We have been directed by the department that as of 24th March, all children who demonstrate evidence of learning from home will be marked under "Flexible Learning". This does not constitute an absence on their records. Conversely, any child not demonstrating the undertaking/completion of set tasks, is to be marked as an A (unjustified absence).

Book club orders have arrived and can be collected from office from Monday. Sorry, no home deliveries.

**  A note to K/1/2 parents re home readers. I am happy to keep this going. If you could drop off books needing changing at the front office before 11:00am each day. I will ensure that they are changed and ready for pick-up by 2:15 each day. If you would prefer not to come into the school, then please leave the home reader folder in our letterbox (near our notice board) before 11:00am and I will place them back in there for pick-up after 2:15pm.

Keep safe,

Kindest regards,

Ann Mills, Sue McLennan
